A helicopter conveying American vacationers smashed at a coral-survey site on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, executing two and harming two others, police said.
The helicopter pilot pulled one traveler from the destruction after the crash Wednesday yet frantic endeavors to restore the 65-year-old lady fizzled, Police Inspector Ian Haughton said Thursday. A 79-year-old man likewise kicked the bucket regardless of observers' endeavors to revive him, Haughton said.
A 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old lady were taken to the Australian terrain for treatment of non-dangerous wounds, he said.
Every one of the four travelers knew each other.
The crash happened 65 kilometers (40 miles) upper east of the Whitsunday Islands on a barge that has submerged review chambers to see coral and is a mainstream visitor goal.
Whitsunday Air Services suspended activities as it works with specialists to decide the reason for the crash. "We are amazingly disheartened by this occurrence and our most profound sympathies are with the groups of the greater part of the travelers," the organization said in an announcement.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau affirmed a crash examination was in progress.
