Golf: Thomas wins Honda Classic in playoff

MIAMI – American Justin Thomas came in a birdie on the primary gap of a playoff to out-duel third round pioneer Luke List and win the PGA Tour's Honda Classic on Sunday, reports BSS. 

The 24-year-old Thomas posted his eighth win on the USPGA Tour and his seventh triumph in his last 31 competitions. "It was another level of trouble, not just the measure of individuals I was attempting to beat, however this green," said Thomas.

Thomas shut with a two-under 68 to get 54-opening pioneer List, who had a one-under 69. They both completed with an eight-under 272 aggregate at the PGA National course. 

Sweden's Alex Noren shot a three-under 67 to complete alone in third, only one stroke back of the pioneers. Britain's Tommy Fleetwood set fourth in the wake of shooting a 69 to achieve six-under 274 aggregate, two shots afloat of Thomas and List. 

Tiger Woods terminated an even-standard 70 in the fourth round for an even-standard 280 aggregate to arrive in twelfth place. Thomas hit a delightful approach shot on the main gap of the playoff as his ball cruised over a dugout and arrived on the green giving him a long downhill putt for birdie. 

His first putt ceased four feet (1.2 meters) short yet he committed no error on the second putt for the triumph that will move him into number three on the planet rankings. 

American List got into inconvenience off the tee as his drive on 18 went right and arrived amidst a little group of trees. His next shot cruised route left finished the display and into the show off fence. He two-putted for a standard. 

– 'Sting a smidgen' – "It will sting a tad," said List. "In a playoff, you can't give Justin a standard since he will hit birdies."
