Azam for diversification of jute products


State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam said on Monday Bangladesh will be given new picture before the world group through enhancement of the jute items, reports BSS. 

"Steps have just been taken for expansion jute items . . 

. these items will give Bangladesh new picture before the world group," Azam said while talking at a roundtable exchange at CIRDAP assembly room in the capital. 

Service of Jute and Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) together composed the roundtable 'Pater Unnayan: Gonomadhamer Bhabna' with ERF president Saif Islam Dilal in the seat. 

Materials and Jute Ministry Secretary Faijur Rahman, Senior Journalist Shaykh Siraj, Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC) Chairman Dr Md Mahmudul Hasan, Director General of the Jute Directorate Md Shamsul Alam, Jute Diversify Promotion Center Executive Director Rina Parvin and ERF General Secretary Ziaur Rahman, among others, participated in the talk. 

AFP's Bureau Chief Shafiqul Alam exhibited the keynote paper. 

Mirza Azam said the service has been dealing with the enhancement of jute merchandise. A year ago, there were 135 enhanced jute items and now the quantity of such items is currently 240, he included.

Mirza Azam said that there is universal scheme against jute. After 1975 a few activities were taken to wreck the jute, he stated, including that BJMC's factories were given over to private proprietors for the sake of privatization. 

Specifying the trick of the World Bank, Mirza Azam said the world's biggest Adamjee Jute Mills was closed around BNP in 2002. The World Bank gave money related help to the then Bangladesh government to pay compensations to the laborers. However, in the meantime, the legislature of India found a way to help its jute plants. More than 2.5 lakh bunches of crude jute were traded from Adamjee process around then, he included.
